scuttle
Leah Wang
slowly, the sky changes color and
a spider scuttles down my throat
explodes out into the flesh of my intestines
and it starts
the flies that bloom in my brain and the
hornets pound against my heartbeat
the buzz and the whirl
and the long gnarled swirl
grind me
am bound
to entomology
or at least the way it affects me
let it through
insect life cycle spans less time than mine
and their descendants –
well
what is a body if not a habitat
