Purple Diners
Erika Acosta
I came to you a hungry soul
In search for truth to make me whole
For something real, I had an ache
My purple hands I let you take
Your pickup truck drove us those nights
To simple diners, yellow lights
We'd split a milkshake, classic mint
And in your eye, a lovely glint
But still, I wanted more and more
There was much more I hungered for
A simple dinner can't provide
For hunger never satisfied
And though it's real, this thing we shared
There might be more for me out there
So now, in purple shades you wait
An unused straw beside your plate
